Born and raised in Walling, Syangja, Nepal, Ms. Gita Koirala Bhandari earned her B.Sc. Ag. from Tribhuvan University’s Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) in 1994. She joined the Department of Agriculture within the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) in 1995. Since then she worked for the MoALD for about 20 years as a Section Officer and undersecretary. She completed her M.Sc. in Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology from IAAS in 2001. Her M.Sc. thesis was on Gender Analysis of Agricultural Extension Delivery System in Nepal. During her services within the MoALD, she was mostly involved in the coordination with inter- and intra-governmental organizations, national and international non-governmental organizations, professional associations, farmer’s cooperatives and farmer’s groups as well as planning, monitoring and evaluation of different agricultural extension programs. She is a life member of Nepal Agricultural Extension Association. She is enthusiastic, optimistic and always seeking to learn new things. She moved to the US in 2014 to join with her spouse and is now living with her family at Dallas, Texas.


Kripa Dhakal

Kripa Dhakal was born in Chitwan and grew up there. She earned her B.Sc. Ag. from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) at Tribhuvan University, Rampur, Chitwan in 2009, and M.Sc. Ag (Soil Science) from the same university in 2011. She has been working as a Planning Officer in the Department of Agriculture (DOA) within the Ministry of Agricultural and Livestock Development (MoALD) since 2010. Previously, she worked in the Agribusiness Promotion and Marketing Development Directorate and District Agriculture Development Office (DADO) Arghakhanchi, both under the DOA. During her service within the MoALD, she has mostly been involved in program planning, organic agricultural promotion program as well as coordination with inter-governmental organizations, professional associations, and farmers cooperatives and groups. Ms. Dhakal joined Tennessee State University at Nashville, TN, USA in 2017 for her PhD and recently (July 2020) defended her dissertation. Her research is on organic vegetables production, nutritional qualities and soil properties of organic fields.


Ambika Tiwari

Ms. Ambika Tiwari, Senior Research Associate, received her Bachelor of Science degree from Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS), Nepal in 1990, and Master of Science degree from Florida A&M University in 2013. She is originally from Chitwan, Nepal and is currently living in Madison, Mississippi. After completing B.Sc., she worked as an Assistant Agronomist in Agronomy Division at Nepal Agricultural Research Council, Nepal. She is currently working as a Senior Research Associate in Water Quality Research for Fisheries at Mississippi State University (MSU). Before joining MSU, she worked as an Environmental Specialist with Florida Department of Environmental Protection for 10 years. Her educational and career specialization is in Agricultural Water Quality Research, Best Management Practices, Algal Taxonomy and Environmental Protection and Restoration. Ms. Tiwari is one of the founding members and a past treasurer of Association of Nepalese Agricultural Professionals of Americas (NAPA). She is a Life Member of NAPA, International Nepali Literary Society (INLS), and Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA). Ms. Tiwari has been serving NASeA as an advisor for 2019-2021 executive team. She has great interest to get involved in community service and help Nepalese community in every way possible by providing expert services in education, social works, and specially in women’s empowerment issues.
